TARGETED WAGE SUBSIDIES
  • Program Objectives
  • To assist unemployed Employment Insurance eligible individuals experiencing difficulty in finding work to benefit from on-the-job work experience
    To enable employers to hire individuals who face barriers to employment by offering temporary wage subsidies, that they would not otherwise hire
    To assist unemployed Employment Insurance eligible individuals to prepare for, obtain and maintain employment resulting in savings to the Employment Insurance Account.
  • How does it work?
  • Unemployed Employment Insurance eligible individuals who have difficulty finding work due to employment barriers are assisted in locating an employer who will enter into an agreement with the Service Canada Centre to provide the individual with employment. The agreement with the employer can be approved for up to 78 weeks.
  • Eligible Participants
  • Those who are unemployed individuals, for whom an unemployment benefit period has been established or has ended within the 36 months prior to the date of requesting assistance; or for whom a benefit period that included a maternity or parental claim and is now seeking to re-enter the labour force.

  • To help young Canadians get career-related work experience while earning money to support their education,"
  • How does it work
  • This initiative offers wage subsidies to employers in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors to create summer job opportunities to students aged 15 to 30
  • Where
  • It will fund the operation of approximately 320 Service Canada Centres for Youth to help students across Canada find summer employment.
Subsidies are available for many different sectors of the manufacturing industry.
