Music and Ballet in Canada

Canadian Opera Company is the largest producer of opera in Canada and one of the largest in North America. Under its General Director, Richard Bradshaw, the company enjoys an international reputation for artistic excellence and creative innovation. To help make opera more accessible, the COC pioneered the use of SurtitlesTM - translations of lyrics that appear discretely above the stage.

Jackson, Maynard Ferguson, John Mayall,Salsa Celtica, David Murray & the Gwo Ka Masters, The Herbaliser, Bonobo , and Harry Connick Jr.

The National Ballet of Canada is Canada's premier dance company with more than 60 dancers and its own full symphony orchestra. It ranks as one of the world's top international dance companies. Founded in 1951 by English dancer Celia Franca, the company was established as a classical company and is still the only Canadian company to present a full range of traditional full-evening ballet classics. The company presents not only the classical repertoire but also embraces contemporary works and encourages the creation of new ballets and the development of Canadian choreographers.

Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet was founded in 1939 by Gweneth Lloyd and Betty Farrally, and is the longest continuously operating ballet company in North America. In 1953, the Company received its royal title, the first granted under the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
