Hamilton

Do You Need More Cash?

Hamilton, long nicknamed Steeltown, is being re-branded The Bay City. It is one of the most popular cities for new immigrants.

ontario lake Located on the SW corner of Lake Ontario, the city has a population of 490,000 people and is centrally located with 120 million people living within a 500 mile radius.

It is one of a handful of urban centres in North America that encircle a bay of significant size to serve as an international port.

In summer the bay is alive with power and sail craft; jet skis and windsurfing enthusiasts. Acres of a former industrial landfill site are restored to a green area. 1,500 Kilometres of trails invite hikers, bikers and window-shopping naturalists to explore the verdure of Hamilton’s forests and botanical exhibits.

Doing Business

The Steel industry used to be the biggest industry in the city, however, health care has outstripped the heavy industry as the largest employer. The education, government, services and technology sectors have all dramatically developed, while the heavy industry has declined.

The workforce in the city is 375,000 of which 66,300 work in the manufacturing industry.

Per capita income is 23% above average at $23,000, the per household average income is $56,502. The top 5 employers are Hamilton Health Sciences Corp, followed by the City itself, then the steel giants Dofasco and Stelco, McMaster University is the 5th largest employer.

Dundurn Castle is one of the area's most-recognized landmarks, illustrating the life and times of Sir Allan Napier MacNab (1798 - 1862).
