Construction Workers needed in Canada

Are you a construction worker and would like to work in Canada?

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)for the construction industry was signed with the Greater Toronto Home Builders' Association (GTHBA) and Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) allowing certain foreign workers into Canada on a temporary work permit.

Construction Recruitment External Workers Services (CREWS) was created to manage, control and facilitate the industry’s role in the foreign worker process. The agreement is in place until September 2007, and allows for the entry of qualified foreign workers to address the current demand for skilled workers.

Cement Finishers
Framers
Concrete Forming Carpenters
Drywallers
Tile Setters
Residential or Commercial Installers

Other trades are considered on a case-by-case basis. If you are approved to work in Canada, you are issued temporary work permits for a period of one year.

Through this program, CREWS, workers have arrived from Argentina, Portugal, Poland, Ukraine, the Philippines and from 40 other countries around the world. They are working legally and because of the continued demand for their skills, many have successfully renewed their work permits for subsequent years.

HOW TO FIND A JOB AS A CONSTRUCTION WORKER

Search for a job at Workopolis or for Toronto jobs at the Human Resource and Skills Development Canada Job Bank

Apply for the job and after you have received a job offer, you must apply to CIC for a work permit, and a visitor's visa at a Canadian Embassy

A worker will be allowed entry to Canada only after a work permit is approved. There is a fee of $150 to process an Application for a Work Permit.
