Education in Canada is a provincial responsibility, therefore all apprenticeship programs are regulated by the
Provincial Ministries of Education
The Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU) is in charge of those programs in Ontario. They decide on what programs will be available and what the guidelines for those programs are.

Modular training programs provides trainees with on and off-the-job training. On successful completion of the required training module, trainees receive a transcript and/or certificate
Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program. Work towards a career as a skilled trade worker or journeyperson, while you complete your Ontario Secondary School Diploma. OYAP helps you obtain placements in 130 skilled trades that can be learned through on the job training.
APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMS
About 90 per cent of training is provided in the workplace by employers or sponsors who provide training to standards of skill and safety set by industry. The remainder involves classroom instruction on theory, which is usually given at a local community college or private career institution.
To become a skilled trades person, you must find an employer who is willing to train. Such jobs are rarely advertised, and, instead, employers often rely on word of mouth to attract applicants. People who want to become apprentices usually apply directly to an employer, union, or local committee.
